Cisco Networking Academy Experts at WFAiIS UMK
The employees of our Faculty, dr hab. Piotr Masłowski, prof. UMK and dr hab. Mariusz Piwiński, prof. UMK, have been rewarded the Cisco Networking Academy Expert Level Instructor Award. This award is given annually to approximately 10 percent of the best instructors of Cisco Networking Academy in the world.

Dr Renu Bala receives an award at the IAMNOP 2025 conference
Dr Renu Bala was awarded the 2025 NIMB Elsevier Award for the Best Oral Presentation at the International Conference on Atomic, Molecular, Nano and Optical Physics with Application (IAMNOP 2025). The event took place on 17–19 December 2025. It was organized by the School of Physical Sciences ↗, part of Jawaharlal Nehru University ↗ in New Delhi, India.
Nanophotonics of 2D Materials Conference
From 6 to 9 October 2025, the N2D 2025 Conference (Nanophotonics and 2D Materials) will take place at the Institute of Physics of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, bringing together leading experts in the field of nanophotonics and two-dimensional materials.
Inauguration of the Academic Year
The inauguration of the 2025/2026 academic year at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń will take place on 1st October at 11:00 a.m. in the NCU Auditorium Aula. The ceremony will be streamed live on the NCU TV website. There will also be accompanying events.
NCU in the Shanghai Ranking
Once again, Nicolaus Copernicus University has found itself on the list of the Academic Ranking of World Universities among the one thousand best universities in the world. In this year's edition of the oldest global ranking, seven Polish higher education institutions were classified.
Delegation from the British Embassy visits NCU
A delegation from the British Embassy in Warsaw visited the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Vice-Rector for Science dr habil. Adam Kola, NCU Prof. hosted Chargé d'affaires Jennifer Tyldesley, who was accompanied by Science & Technology Attaché Małgorzata Kiełmińska.
Prof. Andrzej Cichocki with the Gabor Prize
Prof. Andrzej Cichocki from the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Informatics at the Nicolaus Copernicus University, the most cited Polish computer science scientist and doctor honoris causa of our University, received the Dennis Gabor Award. This is one of the most important honours for outstanding achievements in the field of neural engineering and applications of artificial neural networks.
Nanophotonics conference
Conference "N2D: Nanophotonics of 2D Materials" will take place at the Institute of Physics, NCU, from October 6th to 9th, 2025. The list of invited speakers includes pioneers of low-dimensional nanophotonics. You can still submit your oral or poster contribution. The application deadline is June 23rd.
