Dr Renu Bala was awarded the 2025 NIMB Elsevier Award for the Best Oral Presentation at the International Conference on Atomic, Molecular, Nano and Optical Physics with Application (IAMNOP 2025). The event took place on 17–19 December 2025. It was organized by the School of Physical Sciences ↗, part of Jawaharlal Nehru University ↗ in New Delhi, India.

Her lecture titled “Isotopic mass dependence calculations of collisional parameters in a two-species atomic clock” presented recently obtained results on the isotopic dependence of collisional line-shape parameters: the width and clock shift of the Hg clock transition perturbed by Rb atoms at temperatures ranging from 1 nK to 1 K. This work supports experimental efforts focused on collisional processes occurring in a magneto-optically trapped ultracold mixture of Hg and Rb atoms at the National Laboratory FAMO ↗ and the Institute of Physics of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

Dr Renu Bala is a member of the team at the National Laboratory FAMO and the Institute of Physics (NCU) implementing two grants funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) ↗: SONATA BIS “Searching for new physics using an ultracold mixture of Hg and Rb atoms” 2021/42/E/ST2/00046 and OPUS “Ultracold molecules for sensing fundamental interactions” 2021/41/B/ST2/00681.
